# I thought I needed a mesh Wi-Fi setup, but a single router solved all my problems

**[XDA Developers](https://daily.dev/sources/xda-developers)** · 4 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A personal account of switching from an ISP-provided router to a single high-quality router (GL.iNet Flint 2) instead of investing in a mesh Wi-Fi system. After experiencing poor speeds and dropped frames during live streaming, the author tried a Wi-Fi extender with disappointing results before upgrading to a better standalone router. The Flint 2 delivered improved range, stable speeds, and zero dropped frames over eight months, at a lower cost than a basic mesh system.
