Google quietly updated its Search services privacy settings in June, opting users into expanded AI training that includes saved media such as images, audio recordings, and video. This applies across Google Search, Maps, Shopping, Translate, and other services. Users can opt out by visiting the Search Services History and Search Services Personalization settings pages, where they can uncheck the 'Save Media' box and configure data retention periods. Notably, the previous Web & App Activity setting no longer covers Search services data — it's now a separate toggle that is on by default.
