# Improper parsing of W3C baggage headers may lead to DoS

## Summary

CVE-2026-50276 is a high-severity (CVSS 7.5) denial-of-service vulnerability in the Datadog Ruby tracing library dd-trace-rb. The flaw stems from W3C baggage HTTP header parsing that enforces item-count and byte-size limits only during injection, not extraction. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send requests with arbitrarily large or numerous baggage key-value pairs, causing unbounded CPU and memory consumption. Since baggage propagation is enabled by default, any internet-facing Ruby service instrumented with an affected tracer version is exposed. The fix is available in dd-trace-rb version 2.32.0 or later.
