Oracle's $3M donation of Arm64 compute credits to CNCF projects is enabling cloud-native maintainers to run native Arm64 CI via self-hosted GitHub Actions runners on OCI instances. Over 50% of new AWS instances and 33% of Azure instances now run on Arm64, making architecture support critical. CNCF projects including OpenTelemetry, Longhorn, Crossplane, Falco, and containerd have already benefited, with credit usage surpassing the prior year's total in just two months. Maintainers can request access via a CNCF Service Desk ticket, with an initial suggested spend limit of $5,000/month. Project maintainers report improved build confidence, release quality, and Arm64 adoption as a result.
