The process took nearly two years and required agreement from all contributors. The change aims to broaden adoption in Apache/Jakarta projects that disallow LGPL. One casualty of the relicensing effort is hibernate-envers, which could not be relicensed due to insufficient contributor agreements and has been temporarily removed from the main repository. Users of hibernate-envers can continue using older LGPL releases or build from the temporary repository.
