NVIDIA has launched Halos for Robotics, a full-stack functional safety platform extending its proven autonomous vehicle safety stack to industrial robots, humanoids, and AMRs. Built on NVIDIA IGX Thor hardware and Halos OS software, the system provides IEC 61508 SIL 3-capable safety hardware, a certified safety OS (Halos Core) with Linux and QNX configurations, and reference blueprints like the Outside-In Safety Blueprint that uses external cameras and AI agents to monitor worksites. A concrete warehouse forklift use case demonstrates how the system enables higher throughput by intelligently muting onboard safety constraints when external cameras confirm no workers are present. NVIDIA has also established the Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, an ANAB-accredited ISO/IEC 17020 body, to streamline partner certification. Agility Robotics (maker of the Digit humanoid) is among the first adopters, with an ecosystem of 43+ companies participating.
