# Intel Preparing WiFi 8 "UHR" Support For Their IWLWIFI Linux Driver

Intel's open-source engineers are preparing their upstream IWLWIFI wireless driver in the Linux kernel for WiFi 8 Ultra High Reliability (UHR) support, targeting the upcoming Linux 7.2 kernel. A recent merge to the net-next tree adds UHR features including DPS, DUO, and multi-link power management, NAN enhancements, EMLSR fixes, new Killer/LNL device IDs, and firmware API cleanups. WiFi 8 UHR (IEEE 802.11bn) is still in development and may not be finalized for another two years, but Intel's Linux driver is being positioned to be ready when new UHR-capable adapters arrive.
