Intel Thermald 2.5.12 has been released with a notable addition: initial ARM support. A Qualcomm engineer refactored the Intel-only thermal daemon to support non-Intel platforms by adding a platform-agnostic back-end, rather than forking the project. Qualcomm's Director of Engineering confirmed their intent to test and maintain ARM support going forward, signaling an official Qualcomm push to use Thermald on their Linux SoCs. Other changes in this release include additional CPU IDs for Nova Lake variants, adaptive mode now exclusive to Nova Lake and newer Intel CPUs, improved RAPL handling, security hardening, and various code clean-ups.
