The headline change is enabling Transparent Hugepages (THP) support for device pages (drm_pagemap), which delivers a major performance boost for Shared Virtual Memory (SVM) workloads. Intel engineer Francois Dugast reports that after a 2MB page fault, overall SVM servicing is more than 7x faster, and the proportion of time spent on the actual data copy jumps from 23% to 80% thanks to reduced CPU overhead.
