Into the Omniverse: How Open World Models Push the Frontier of Physical AI

NVIDIA has launched Cosmos 3, an open physical AI foundation model family built on a mixture-of-transformers architecture that combines vision reasoning, world generation, and action prediction in a single model family. The lineup includes Cosmos 3 Super (64B), Cosmos 3 Nano (16B), and Cosmos 3 Edge (4B) for edge deployment on Jetson and RTX hardware. Cosmos 3 claims top rankings on multiple benchmarks including Artificial Analysis, PAI-Bench, Physics-IQ, and RoboLab. Released under the Linux Foundation's OpenMDW 1.1 license, the models can be post-trained on custom data. Adoption spans robotics (Doosan, LG, Samsung), autonomous vehicles (Li Auto, Xiaomi), and vision AI. NVIDIA has also expanded its Cosmos Coalition to Japan, targeting factories, logistics, agriculture, and healthcare applications. The stack integrates with NVIDIA Omniverse and OpenUSD for simulation-ready environment building and synthetic data generation.
