# Introducing Elixir WebRTC

**[Software Mansion](https://daily.dev/sources/swmansion)** · 5 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

SW Mansion announces the first release (v0.1) of ex_webrtc, a nearly pure Elixir implementation of the W3C WebRTC specification. Built to address pain points with previous C/Erlang-based approaches via the Membrane Framework, ex_webrtc offers a familiar API mirroring the JavaScript WebRTC API while remaining idiomatic to Elixir. The release includes Phoenix LiveDashboard integration for WebRTC statistics visualization and a 'Mastering Transceivers' guide. Planned v0.2 features include Quality of Service support (Transport-Wide Congestion Control, Retransmissions), additional ICE features (mDNS candidates, TURN servers), and general performance improvements.
