Databricks has launched OpenSharing SecureConnect in Public Preview, a managed proxy service that simplifies secure external data sharing when provider storage sits behind a private network. Previously, providers had to manually allowlist each recipient's IP addresses or VPCs on their storage firewall, making onboarding slow and unscalable. SecureConnect requires only a one-time setup: providers allowlist Databricks's network endpoints, and from then on no per-recipient firewall changes are needed. Data stays in the provider's storage bucket with live sharing directly from source. Optionally, providers can use NCC (Network Connectivity Configuration) for private link connectivity between the proxy and provider storage.
