# Introducing Team Authorizations

**[Heroku](https://daily.dev/sources/heroku)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Heroku now lets teams create and manage API tokens and OAuth authorizations at the team level rather than tying them to individual accounts. Team admins can create long-lived team-owned Authorizations and assign Authorized Applications (OAuth grants) to a team, all visible from Team Settings. This prevents integrations and CI/CD pipelines from breaking when an individual leaves or loses access, and gives admins centralized visibility for audits and offboarding. Team tokens follow a maximum one-year lifetime and secrets are shown only once at creation. The feature is available now for every Heroku team.

## Questions this post answers

### How do I stop Heroku integrations from breaking when a team member leaves?

Heroku now supports Team Authorizations, which let admins create API tokens and OAuth authorizations owned by the team instead of an individual account. Because credentials belong to the team rather than a person, integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and automations keep running when someone leaves, changes roles, or loses access. Team admins create these from Team Settings, the CLI, or the Dashboard.

### What is the token lifetime for Heroku team-owned API tokens?

Heroku team-owned API tokens created through Team Authorizations have a maximum lifetime of one year, and their secret values are shown only once at creation time, following modern token security best practices. Team admins manage these tokens and OAuth-based authorized applications from a centralized view in Team Settings.
