# Issue fields are now in public preview for all organizations

## Summary

GitHub has expanded issue fields to public preview for all organizations on github.com and GitHub Enterprise Cloud. Issue fields let teams define typed metadata (single select, text, number, date) at the org level that automatically appears on every issue across all repositories. Features include search/filter by field value, project view columns, timeline tracking, and REST/GraphQL API and webhook automation support. Over 1,000 organizations adopted the feature since its March preview. New improvements include public repository visibility controls, REST API parity with GraphQL, and a Copilot-powered migration tool for bulk-copying values from labels or project fields. Four default fields are available out of the box, with admin customization via Settings > Planning > Issue fields.
