LinuxMD is a project that runs a mainline Linux kernel on the Sega Megadrive (Genesis), a 16-bit console from 1990 powered by a Motorola 68000 CPU. Since the 68000 lacks a memory management unit, the kernel is compiled with the -nommu option. The system boots from an SD card via a modern storage peripheral and reportedly runs on original hardware, with smolutils (a minimal coreutils) as the userspace.
