Jakarta Agentic AI has released its first milestone, version 1.0.0-M1, now available on Maven Central, along with a draft 1.0 specification. The project aims to bring vendor-neutral, standardized APIs for building AI agents to Jakarta EE runtimes — similar to how Jakarta Servlet and Jakarta Batch standardized their domains. Key features include annotation-driven agents using CDI beans (@Agent, @Trigger, @Decision, @Action, @Outcome), full CDI integration with a new @WorkflowScoped context, a lightweight LargeLanguageModel facade, and alignment with existing Jakarta EE APIs. A reference implementation and TCK are planned before the full 1.0 release.
