## Summary

Weekly Java ecosystem roundup covering JDK 28 JEPs advancing to Proposed to Target (Simple JSON API and deprecating the macOS/x64 port), JDK 27/28 early-access builds, a Jakarta EE 12 progress update from Ivar Grimstad, GlassFish 9.0's third milestone with partial Jakarta spec implementations, GraalVM Native Build Tools 1.1.9, Eclipse JNoSQL 1.1.16 adding Valkey support, Open Liberty 26.0.0.8 fixing several denial-of-service CVEs in Apache CXF, LangChain4j 1.19.0 with Anthropic batch API support, and Apache Groovy 6.0.0's second beta.

## Questions this post answers

### What does JEP 540 add to JDK 28?

JEP 540 introduces a Simple JSON API as an incubator feature, providing a standard API for parsing and generating JSON documents without needing an external library. It implements RFC 8259, the JSON data interchange format, and supersedes the older JEP 198 Light-Weight JSON API, which has been closed and withdrawn. The JEP was elevated to Proposed to Target for JDK 28, with review concluding August 17, 2026.

_Track JDK 28 feature proposals like the Simple JSON API on daily.dev before planning an upgrade._

### What denial-of-service vulnerabilities does Open Liberty 26.0.0.8 fix?

Open Liberty 26.0.0.8 patches three CVEs that can cause denial-of-service: CVE-2026-50645, an Apache CXF deserialization flaw allowing unlimited attachment headers leading to uncontrolled resource consumption; CVE-2026-9171, allowing crafted requests to exhaust server memory; and CVE-2026-15057, an uncontrolled heap allocation issue. Upgrading to this release is recommended.

_Java teams patching production servers can follow CVE fixes like these on daily.dev._

### What new feature did LangChain4j 1.19.0 add for Anthropic's API?

LangChain4j 1.19.0 introduces a new AnthropicBatchChatModel class that implements the Anthropic Message Batches API, enabling batch processing of chat requests. The release also adds functionality to map metadata from an MCP server into the ToolExecutionResult class's attributes method, giving applications an existing channel for extra data.

_Developers integrating LangChain4j with Anthropic models can follow release details on daily.dev._

> JEP 540 is welcome but curious if it'll actually dent Jackson/Gson adoption, stdlib JSON apis have a bad track record of lagging the ecosystem on streaming perf. RFC 8259 compliance is table stakes at this point, the real differentiator is always how it handles large payloads without loading the whole tree into memory.
