OpenChoreo (open-choreo.dev) is a new CNCF sandbox project from WSO2 that adds an abstraction layer on top of Kubernetes, exposing MCP servers, a CLI, API, and web UI to let AI agents and developers manage Kubernetes workloads without needing deep kubectl knowledge. It provides a unified control plane that integrates with common CNCF tools (Argo, Cilium, KEDA, Prometheus, Crossplane) and ships with built-in SRE, FinOps, and Architect agents that react to cluster events, generate root-cause reports, and can optionally apply remediations. Permissions are role-scoped so agents get only the tools their identity allows, supporting a gradual read-only-to-write progression. The project is positioned as the missing infrastructure layer between local AI coding agents and production Kubernetes clusters, enabling 'vibe-ops' style deployment alongside traditional GitOps workflows.
