KDE is Going Wayland Only So This New Project Gives You KDE With X11

SonicDE is a new open source project forking KDE Plasma components to maintain and advance X11 support after KDE announced Plasma 6.8 will drop the X11 session entirely. Starting from a KWin/X11 patchset, the project has grown to 40 GitHub repositories covering window management (sonic-win), desktop shell (sonic-desktop-interface), workspace, networking, audio, screen locking, and a custom Silver theme. It is init-system agnostic, targets BSD support, and is already packaged for Arch-based distros, Debian, Devuan, Artix, and Vendefoul Wolf, with Gentoo, NixOS, OpenMandriva, and FreeBSD packaging in progress.
