Krita, the free open-source image editor, can replicate many of Adobe Photoshop's AI features — including inpainting, outpainting, background removal, canvas expansion, and upscaling beyond 8K — using locally hosted AI models via the Krita AI Diffusion and Vision Tools plugins. Running on an RTX 3080 Ti with 12GB VRAM, the setup avoids Photoshop's subscription costs and generative credit limits while delivering surprisingly competitive results, especially with Flux 2.0.
