# LangSmith Fleet: enterprise agent management with tiered permissions and multi-channel access

**[Collections](https://daily.dev/sources/collections)** · 2 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

LangChain has rebranded LangSmith Agent Builder as LangSmith Fleet, an enterprise platform for managing AI agents at scale. Fleet introduces tiered permissions (clone, run, edit), a centralized Agent Inbox for human-in-the-loop oversight, and full observability via structured traces. It distinguishes between two agent credential models: Claws (shared service accounts with fixed credentials) and Assistants (per-user OAuth). New shareable skills allow domain knowledge to be captured once and reused across agents. Agents can be deployed through Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Teams, or a built-in chat UI, with new Microsoft 365 support. The rebrand signals LangChain's focus on enterprise agent management as a distinct problem beyond individual agent building.

## Content

LangChain has rebranded LangSmith Agent Builder as **LangSmith Fleet**, a platform aimed at teams that have moved past building individual agents and now need to manage a whole organization's worth of them.

## What Fleet actually is

Fleet is an enterprise workspace for creating, deploying, and managing agents at scale. The core idea is that different people in an org need different levels of access to the same agents, so Fleet introduces tiered permissions: clone, run, or edit. There's also a centralized Agent Inbox for human-in-the-loop oversight, and full observability through structured traces.

## Two types of agents

Fleet distinguishes between two credential models:

- **Claws** - agents with a fixed set of credentials and identities, essentially shared service accounts
- **Assistants** - agents that act on behalf of the end user via per-user OAuth

Each agent can also have its own dedicated Slack bot identity, which is a small but useful detail for teams that want their agents to feel like first-class members of a workspace rather than generic bots.

## Shareable skills

One of the newer additions is shareable skills. The idea is to capture domain knowledge once, attach it to any agent, and reuse it across your fleet. Skills can also be downloaded locally if you want to use them in coding agents outside of Fleet.

## Channels

Agents can be exposed through Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Teams, or the built-in chat UI. Fleet also now supports Microsoft 365 tools, so you can build an agent that triages an Outlook inbox and drafts replies, for example.

## The bigger picture

The rebrand signals a deliberate shift in focus: less about building a single agent, more about running many of them with proper access controls and audit trails. Whether that framing resonates depends on where your team is in the adoption curve, but the additions around permissions, identity, and skills suggest LangChain is betting that enterprise agent management is its own distinct problem worth solving.
