LibreOffice's Italo Vignoli has publicly criticized Euro-Office, a new productivity suite claiming to be the first European open-source office suite. Beyond OnlyOffice's earlier accusations that Euro-Office used its code without proper licensing, LibreOffice takes issue with Euro-Office defaulting to Microsoft's proprietary OOXML format. This, LibreOffice argues, makes Euro-Office a de facto ally of Microsoft's content lock-in strategy, undermining European digital sovereignty despite its open-source branding. LibreOffice also disputes Euro-Office's claim to be the first European open-source suite, noting that OpenOffice and LibreOffice predate it.
