**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Linus Torvalds has released Linux 7.1-rc3, the third weekly release candidate for the Linux 7.1 kernel. Roughly a third of the patches in this cycle address the networking subsystem, covering both drivers and core networking code along with related selftests. Other changes include sound and GPU driver fixes, architecture updates for PowerPC, x86, LoongArch, and PA-RISC, plus SMB updates, Rust infrastructure improvements, SELinux fixes, and documentation. A notable merge this week was Intel enabling Auto Counter Reload (ACR) for Xeon Diamond Rapids. The Linux 7.1 stable release is expected by mid-June.
