# Linux 7.2 sched_ext Continues Working Toward Sub-Scheduler Support

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 1 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Linux 7.2 continues building out sched_ext sub-scheduler support, which allows multiple BPF scheduler instances to be attached to the cgroup hierarchy for handling different workloads. Key additions include Topological CPU IDs (CIDs), cmask infrastructure, BPF arena integration, and reworked scx_qmap to exercise the new interfaces. This feature is particularly valuable for multi-tenant platforms and heterogeneous workload environments, with enqueue-path support for hierarchical scheduling still in development.
