A developer named Jakub Okoński investigated a long-standing mouse input latency issue in KDE Plasma that caused Linux to process clicks ~4ms slower than Windows. He identified three separate sources of delay, including an overly conservative 1.5ms safety margin in KWin that could be reduced to 0.3ms with updated Nvidia drivers, and frame-queuing contention from background applications adding up to 8ms in worst cases. His patch recovers 1–1.2ms, narrowing the gap with Windows by roughly 3ms, though full parity has not yet been achieved.
