# Linux Prepares For New USB-C Security Feature On Lenovo ThinkPads

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 1 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Newer Lenovo ThinkPad systems are getting Linux support for a USB-C Security Restricted Mode feature. When enabled, this mode allows USB-C power delivery while disabling all USB data connections, making it suitable for kiosk deployments or physically-secured environments. The feature is being wired into the ThinkPad ACPI driver and can be toggled via Fn+U and Fn+S key sequences. Its current state will be exposed through the sysfs path /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/usb_c_security. A patch series has been submitted for this enablement.
