At an internal town hall, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that AI agent development has not progressed as quickly as the company had hoped. Earlier this year, Meta laid off around 8,000 employees and reassigned 7,000 others to AI-focused groups, including one called Agent Transformation. Zuckerberg admitted the restructuring was not as clean as it should have been and that the expected benefits of the new AI-focused structure have not yet materialized. He expressed hope that improvements would come within three to six months. Meta is projected to spend up to $145 billion on AI infrastructure this year.
