Material Hybrid Manufacturing has developed a 3D printing platform that creates batteries conforming to irregular shapes and surfaces, achieving 50% higher energy density than conventional cylindrical cells. The Hybrid3D system prints complete battery stacks (anode, cathode, separator, casing) directly onto devices like drones, wearables, and military equipment, eliminating metal casings and utilizing previously wasted space. The company secured a $1.25M Air Force contract and is partnering with Performance Drone Works for commercialization. The technology supports multiple battery chemistries (NMC, LFP, LTO) and could eventually replace costly traditional manufacturing with flexible, on-demand printing.
