Microsoft Announces 1000x Better Quantum Chip

Microsoft announced the Majorana 2 chip, achieving a 1,000x improvement in topological qubit lifetime — from 12 milliseconds to over 20 seconds — by replacing the aluminum superconducting layer with lead, which has a 4x larger superconducting gap.
