Microsoft has announced the Intelligent Terminal, an open-source fork of Windows Terminal that adds native AI agent integration. Key features include an agent status bar, a dedicated context-aware agent pane supporting any CLI-based AI agent, automatic error detection, and agent management. The project is MIT-licensed and available on GitHub, though it currently only supports Windows. Microsoft plans to continue maintaining the original Windows Terminal for users who prefer no AI integration.
