Microsoft confirmed an incident causing search failures across Microsoft 365 apps including Outlook on the web, Outlook desktop, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. The company traced the root cause to a recent deployment that introduced a resource utilization inefficiency, and says it has deployed a fix to restore service. This follows similar search-related incidents last year and a separate major Azure/Microsoft 365 outage in July caused by a network maintenance bug, as well as an eight-hour GitHub outage resolved earlier this week.
