Microsoft is expanding Azure's AI and HPC infrastructure through a deepened partnership with AMD, introducing three new VM families. HDv2 VMs feature nearly 500 AMD 6th Gen EPYC cores, 4TB RAM, and 32TB NVMe storage for AI data processing and agentic workloads. HXv2 VMs target electronic design automation and scientific computing with 176 EPYC cores at 5+ GHz, 3D V-cache technology, and 800 Gb InfiniBand for large-scale MPI simulations. ND MI455X v7 VMs, powered by AMD's Helios rackscale solution, are designed for production-scale AI inference, reasoning, and search workloads. The expansion reflects Azure's strategy of offering a heterogeneous, open compute platform to give customers flexibility across different AI workflow stages.
