Microsoft is launching Microsoft Frontier Company, a new operating business backed by a $2.5B investment, embedding 6,000 industry and engineering experts at customer sites to co-design and deploy AI systems. The initiative focuses on 'Frontier Transformation' — helping enterprises build proprietary AI solutions that compound their unique intelligence over time while protecting their IP. Key principles include model diversity (supporting OpenAI, Anthropic, open source, and specialized models), data sovereignty (customer data is never used to train shared models), and measurable business outcomes. Early deployments include LSEG, Land O'Lakes, Unilever, and Novo Nordisk. The organization will be led by Rodrigo Kede Lima and will work alongside SI partners including Accenture, Capgemini, EY, KPMG, and PwC.
