The flaw was publicly disclosed by security researcher 'Nightmare Eclipse' amid an ongoing dispute with Microsoft over bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure practices. The exploit leverages a race condition in Defender to spawn a command prompt with SYSTEM privileges on fully patched Windows 10 and 11 devices, with a proof-of-concept released publicly.
