The Hertz Foundation has awarded 2026 fellowships to four MIT-affiliated doctoral students: Annika Marschner (surgical robotics and bio-inspired systems), Alvin Q. Meng (inorganic chemistry, iron-sulfur clusters), Zachary S. Siegel (AI, robotics, and Bayesian inference for goal reasoning), and Matthew Wanta (operations research, autonomous systems, and drone swarm control). Each receives five years of financial support including stipend and full tuition equivalent, granting them autonomy to pursue independent research. They are among 19 total Hertz Fellows selected nationally this year.
