> Lower observability costs is the claim I would want evidence for, since giving more people access to more data usually pushes spend the other way unless something changes about what gets collected. Where shift-left genuinely pays is upstream of access: when the person writing the code decides what the span and the log line should contain, you get fields that answer real questions instead of generic HTTP metadata. The cost reduction then comes from being able to sample aggressively, because the traces you keep are actually informative. That is a collection-design win, not an access-model one,...
