Mythos (an advanced AI model) is generating hype in cybersecurity circles, but practical AppSec results depend far more on the harness — the orchestration layer wrapping the model — than on which model is used. UCSB research showed the best harness outperformed the worst by 4x on the same model, while the gap between top frontier models is under 1%. A well-designed harness includes recon, parallel hunting agents, independent validation, tracing, and deduplication stages. Economically, running multiple cheaper models through a strong harness often beats running a single expensive frontier model. Vendor-agnostic platforms that can swap models freely and use the right tool for each task outperform those locked to a single model.
