MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita has been appointed a founding commissioner of the AI for Good Global Commission, a new UN-linked body initiated by the International Telecommunication Union. Co-chaired by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, the commission brings together over 40 members from government and business — including Nvidia's Jensen Huang, Amazon's Andy Jassy, and Microsoft's Brad Smith — to promote responsible, inclusive AI. A key focus is bridging the digital divide, with 2.2 billion people still offline globally. The commission's inaugural meeting is taking place at the ITU's AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva. The appointment aligns with MTN's Ambition 2030 strategy, which targets R30 billion in AI-driven value creation over the next three to five years.
