Multigres v0.1 alpha is now open source — a Vitess-inspired management layer for Postgres that handles horizontal scaling, high availability, and operational complexity as a unified system. Key features in this release include a two-process connection pooling architecture (multigateway + multipooler) with context-aware pooling and per-user pools, a consensus-based HA system built on unmodified Postgres replication with user-defined durability policies, pgBackRest-based backup orchestration, and a Kubernetes operator for deployment. Sharding (the flagship feature) is not yet included; v0.1 is a single-shard HA cluster intended for experimentation and feedback. A Supabase-hosted version is planned for the future.
