A newly released deposition from Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI shows Musk attacking OpenAI's safety record, claiming xAI's Grok is safer than ChatGPT and referencing suicide-related lawsuits against OpenAI. The deposition, recorded in September, was filed publicly ahead of the expected jury trial next month. The lawsuit centers on OpenAI's shift from nonprofit to for-profit status, which Musk claims violated founding agreements. Ironically, since the deposition, xAI's Grok faced its own safety scandal when X was flooded with non-consensual nude images generated by Grok, some allegedly of minors, triggering investigations by the California AG, the EU, and other governments.
