# Neon Read Replicas in The Wild: How BeatGig Uses Them

**[Neon](https://daily.dev/sources/neontech)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

BeatGig, a talent booking marketplace, chose Neon over Supabase, Google Cloud SQL, RDS, and Aurora primarily for its developer experience and read replica capabilities. Neon's read replicas share the same storage backend as the primary compute, require no extra storage cost, and scale to zero when idle. BeatGig uses them to give non-SQL-expert team members safe, read-only access via Metabase without risking the primary database. Compared to Aurora replicas, Neon's spin up in seconds and have transparent, low costs. Read replicas are now available on Neon's Free Plan.
