Linux 7.2 brings updates to the new NTFS driver introduced in Linux 7.1. Key additions include support for Windows native symbolic links (relative, absolute, and junctions), with mount options to control behavior. The driver also receives hardening against malformed on-disk metadata with stricter validation for attributes, index roots, EA entries, and more. Several bug fixes address writeback deadlocks, resource leaks, volume label serialization, mapping-pairs decoding bounds, and LCN overflow checks. Unsupported quota code has also been removed.
