The very same documentation discourages from using the `id` value as a global variable, as the web APIs might in the future overshadow the variable (APIs have precedence over variables automatically derived from the `id` values), so the safest methods are the ones most known: `document.getElementById(...)` and `document.querySelector(...)`.
