NIST has launched NIST GenAI, a platform to assess generative AI technologies, including text- and image-generating AI. It will release benchmarks, develop deepfake-checking systems, and encourage the development of software to identify fake or misleading information. NIST GenAI's first project is to differentiate between human-created and AI-generated media.
