NLnet Labs has published an LLM policy governing how AI language models may be used in contributions to their open source projects (including Unbound, NSD, Krill, and Routinator). The policy prohibits LLM-generated code or documentation in contributions, requires disclosure of any LLM use in communications, and clarifies that contributors remain responsible for verifying any LLM-assisted findings. An exception allows LLM-suggested fixes to accompany vulnerability reports to aid triage. Machine translation is discouraged due to potential miscommunication risks.
