Google has updated NotebookLM with several new capabilities. The tool now defaults to Gemini 3.5 and gains Antigravity-powered software skills. A key new feature lets users start a chat about a project and have NotebookLM automatically suggest and build a source repository using research skills and Google Search — removing the previous requirement to manually supply all sources. Users can also give detailed formatting instructions and edit generated outputs, with new export formats including PNG, SVG, PDF, DOCX, Markdown, CSV, JSON, Excel, and PowerPoint. Transparency is improved with detailed reasoning steps shown in chat. The updates are rolling out to Google AI Ultra and Workspace business customers first.
