The U.S. National Science Foundation has launched Project Triad, an initiative to integrate quantum sensing, quantum networking, and quantum computing into a single operational system. Supported by three programs — NSF National Quantum Virtual Laboratory, NSF X-Labs, and NSF Quantum+X — the project brings together government, academia, and industry to move quantum technology from research labs into real-world applications. Target use cases include GPS-independent navigation, secure communications, underground resource detection, and precision medicine. NSF plans to accelerate several NQVL projects from design to implementation by December 2026, pending funding, while also seeking industry partnerships across energy, finance, biotech, and pharma sectors.
