Nvidia doesn’t mess around: A week after open AI industry group formed, it’s already showing progress

The Open Secure AI Alliance (OSAA), a week-old industry group spearheaded by Nvidia with over 120 member companies, is already producing results. At Black Hat in Las Vegas, the group unveiled the SAFE (Shared AI Findings Exchange) working group, which has published initial proposals covering confidential AI security incident reporting, affected-party notification, and blame-free post-incident analysis. Members are also cataloging open source tools relevant to securing AI agents, including Nvidia's Garak LLM vulnerability scanner, Okta's agent identity work, Red Hat's agent governance efforts, and Amazon's Strands Agents and Cedar authorization language. Notable members include Adobe, BlackRock, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, and Visa, though Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google have not joined despite OpenAI and Google signing the original open letter that prompted the group's formation. The alliance emerged in response to U.S. government discussions about banning Chinese open weight AI models.
