# OMG Launches Official SysMLv2 Certification Program to Accelerate Next-Generation MBSE

## Summary

The Object Management Group (OMG) has launched an official SysMLv2 Certification Program, starting with the entry-level SysMLv2 Model User exam available June 2, 2026. SysMLv2 is a ground-up redesign of the systems modeling language addressing limitations in precision, expressiveness, and tool interoperability. The certification was developed by academic and industry experts involved in the SysMLv2 standard itself, giving employers and procurement authorities a trusted way to verify practitioner proficiency. A follow-up SysMLv2 Model Builder Fundamental certification is planned for early 2027. Sponsors include the U.S. Department of War, Dassault Systèmes, Lockheed Martin, and Sierra Nevada Corporation.
