One-shotting a Raccoon Heist game using Claude Fable 5

Simon Willison used Claude Fable 5 (via Claude Code for web) to build a fully playable 3D browser game called Raccoon Heist from a single prompt, inspired by a 2022 tweet. The AI autonomously chose Three.js, generated textures via OpenAI's gpt-image-2, wrote Playwright tests to catch bugs, and committed iteratively to GitHub Pages for live previewing. The resulting game features 3D graphics, procedural audio, mobile touch controls, and escalating night-based difficulty with guards and a scent-tracking dog. While technically impressive as a one-shot output, the gameplay itself is shallow and easy — Willison notes that designing genuinely fun games remains a uniquely human skill that AI agents haven't cracked.
